About this document
This document describes the measures JWith takes to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation on our platform. It is published in line with the Google Play Families Policy, Apple App Store guidelines, and applicable child-protection laws worldwide.
JWith is a relationship platform exclusively for adults. Our baseline minimum age is 18 years. Where the age of legal majority or the legal age to use online dating services in your jurisdiction is higher than 18, that higher age applies — and it is your responsibility as a user to verify and comply with the applicable law where you reside.
The presence of any user below the applicable legal age — whether registered, as the subject of uploaded content, or as a target of communication — is a violation we treat with the highest priority.
1. Zero-tolerance policy
We have a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), child sexual exploitation, or any attempt to contact, groom, or solicit a minor through our service. Any user, content, or behavior fitting this description will:
- Be immediately removed from the platform
- Result in the permanent ban of the offending account
- Be reported to the relevant law enforcement authorities and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or its equivalent in the user's jurisdiction
- Be subject to all legal action available to us and to the victim
This applies regardless of the user's stated intent, claimed jurisdiction, or any other circumstance.
2. How we prevent minors from joining
2.1 Age verification at sign-up
- During onboarding, users must affirm they are of legal age. Sign-up cannot proceed without this declaration.
- Our terms of use require, as a contractual condition, that all users be at least 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction, whichever is higher).
2.2 Automated photo validation
- Every photo uploaded by a user passes through automated review using a specialized AI provider (Sightengine).
- Among other checks, the system flags photos where the subject appears to be a minor. These photos are automatically rejected and the user is informed of the standardized reason.
- Repeated submission of photos with detected minor presence triggers manual review of the account.
2.3 Identity verification (optional, increases account trust)
- Users may optionally complete a video-based identity verification process.
- The video is reviewed manually by our team to confirm the user matches their submitted photo and presents as an adult.
- Verified accounts receive a visible badge. Unverified accounts may face additional restrictions or moderation scrutiny.
3. How we detect and respond to abuse
3.1 Automated content moderation
- Profile descriptions are screened by an AI moderation provider (Anthropic Claude). Content involving minors, sexual references to minors, or attempts to redirect contact off-platform is flagged or rejected automatically.
- Chat messages are not read by humans in real time, but the system records reports filed by recipients and applies the same content review on flagged threads.
3.2 User reporting
Every profile in the app exposes a Report action accessible from the kebab menu (⋮). Users can report:
- Suspected minors
- Inappropriate content
- Harassment
- Fake or impersonation accounts
- Other policy violations
Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. We do not notify the reported user that a report has been filed.
External reports are accepted at support@jwith.app with the subject line containing "Child Safety" — they are routed to a dedicated review queue with priority handling, reviewed as quickly as possible.
3.3 Human review and action
Our moderation team operates with the following escalation:
- Confirmed CSAM or attempted child contact: account permanently banned, content preserved per legal obligation, reported to NCMEC (or equivalent), reported to law enforcement in the jurisdiction.
- Suspected minor user: account suspended pending verification. If verification confirms the user is under 18 or cannot be completed, account is deleted and all uploaded photos purged.
- Suspected inappropriate adult conduct (e.g. grooming attempts that did not involve a confirmed minor): account suspended pending review, evidence preserved, escalation to law enforcement at the team's discretion.
4. Cooperation with authorities
JWith complies with all valid legal requests from law enforcement related to child safety investigations. Specifically:
- We respond to subpoenas, warrants, and emergency disclosure requests under applicable law.
- We preserve content and account data for the duration required by the investigation.
- We participate in voluntary reporting programs.
- We comply with national child-protection legislation where it applies to our users.
We do not require users to consent to investigations involving their content where law enforcement is involved.
5. Education and prevention
We believe child safety is a community effort. Within our means as a small platform:
- Our Community Guidelines and Safety Tips include explicit guidance on identifying suspicious behavior and reporting it.
- We surface in-app safety notices at relevant moments — e.g. a warning in chats with users who haven't completed identity verification, and photo guidelines during upload.
- Users encountering anything suspicious are encouraged to report via the in-app tool or via support@jwith.app immediately.
We support external resources and direct users to them when relevant:
6. Continuous improvement
Our child-safety measures evolve as the platform grows and as best practices in the industry evolve. We commit to:
- Reviewing this document at least annually
- Updating automated detection mechanisms as the technology improves
- Incorporating feedback from users, civil-society organizations, and authorities
If you believe our measures are insufficient, or you have suggestions on how we can improve, contact us at support@jwith.app.
