Terms of Use — JWith
Last updated: 2026-07-07
Effective from: 2026-05-28
About this document
These Terms of Use govern the use of the JWith application (iOS and Android), the website jwith.app, and all related services. By creating an account or using JWith, you agree to these terms.
If you disagree with any provision, do not use the service. You can delete your account at any time at Settings → Delete account.
These terms must be read together with the Privacy Policy — together they form the full agreement between you and JWith.
1. Who provides the service
From here on, "JWith", "we", or "our" refer to the operator. "You" or "User" refer to the individual using the service.
2. What JWith is
JWith is a relationship platform aimed at Jehovah's Witnesses and people interested in meeting members of that religious community, based on shared values. It connects authorized users so they can communicate and, potentially, develop relationships.
JWith is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, or any official Jehovah's Witnesses entity. It is an independent community project, with no institutional ties.
The service is offered worldwide where permitted by law. We do not operate in jurisdictions where the service would violate local law; you are responsible for verifying that use of JWith is lawful in your country.
3. Who can use the service (eligibility)
To create a JWith account, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age on the date of account creation — or, if the legal age of majority or the legal age to use online dating services in your jurisdiction is higher than 18, that higher age. See our Child Safety Standards for the full age policy. You are responsible for verifying and complying with the applicable age requirement where you reside.
- Have full legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
- Provide truthful information (age, gender identity, marital status)
- Have not been previously banned from JWith for violating these terms
- Not be using the service on behalf of another person
We reserve the right to refuse account creation or cancel existing accounts at any time if we identify violation of these criteria.
4. Your account
4.1 Creation
- You create an account via email and verification code (OTP), then set a password.
- Each person may have only one active account.
- Your account is tied to a single device (anti-fraud control). Accessing from another device invalidates the previous session — you can move your account between devices, but not use two in parallel.
4.2 Security
- You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for all activity on your account.
- If you suspect your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and notify us at support@jwith.app.
- Do not share your account with others.
4.3 Truthful information
You agree to provide truthful, current, and accurate information about yourself:
- Your real age (the age range shown publicly is derived from your exact age)
- Your real gender identity
- Your current marital status (single, divorced, widowed)
- A private photo that is genuinely yours, recent, without manipulation that alters your facial appearance
- Your current location
Providing false information is a violation of these terms and may result in account suspension or cancellation.
5. Content you publish
5.1 What you may publish
Within the limits of these terms, you may publish:
- Nickname (subject to automated moderation)
- Description (subject to a length limit shown in the app and to automated moderation)
- Private photo (subject to automated validation)
- Messages in chats with other users
5.2 What you grant to JWith
By publishing any content on JWith, you grant JWith a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to:
- Store and process the content as needed to operate the service
- Technically modify the content (e.g. generate your public photo from your private photo via AI, resize images, etc.)
- Display the content to other users in accordance with your privacy settings and as described in our Privacy Policy
This license terminates when you delete the content or your account — except:
- Content already shared with other users in private conversations (sent messages remain visible to recipients, even after you delete your account)
- Data we are legally required to retain (e.g. report records, audit logs)
You retain ownership of all content you create. JWith does not claim copyright over your photos, description, or messages.
5.3 Prohibited content
You may not publish, send, or transmit through JWith content that:
- Violates applicable law or the rights of third parties
- Promotes businesses, products, services, pyramid schemes, cryptocurrency, MLM
- Uses offensive, profane, or sexually explicit language
- Promotes hookups, "friends with benefits", casual non-committal relationships
- Demonstrates hostility against individuals or groups
- Includes political endorsement or nationalistic/military display
- Endorses celebrations that members of the congregation do not observe (birthdays, Christmas, etc.)
- Contains content involving minors, even partially — see our Child Safety Standards for the full policy
- Uses imagery of a real person who is not you (impersonation)
- Contains photos generated entirely by AI as the private photo (only real photos are accepted as the reference)
- Defames, libels, or insults another person
- Contains copyright-protected material without permission — to report infringement of your own content, email support@jwith.app
The list above is not exhaustive. When in doubt, restrain yourself — if uncertain, don't publish.
5.4 Moderation
- Automated moderation (AI): nicknames, descriptions, and photos undergo automated validation (Anthropic Claude, Sightengine). Content that violates rules is rejected and you receive a standardized reason.
- Human review: video-based identity verification is reviewed manually by our team.
- Right to review: you may contest any automated decision via privacy@jwith.app.
We reserve the right to remove any content, at any time, with or without prior notice, if we consider it to violate these terms.
6. Identity verification
Verification is optional. If you choose to verify:
- You first confirm a phone number via a one-time SMS code — a prerequisite for the video step.
- You record a short video answering the question shown on screen.
- The video is reviewed manually by our team to confirm you match your private photo.
- The video is automatically deleted after review (approved or rejected).
- If approved, your account receives the "verified" badge (visible on your public profile).
- If rejected, you may try again. There is no attempt limit, but repeated attempts with manifestly invalid videos may lead to suspension.
Verification serves to reduce fraud and fake profiles. It is not legal proof of identity.
7. Quotas and rewarded ads
JWith is free. Some features — AI public photo generation and invitation sending — are subject to daily limits. The current limits are shown in the app under "My Limits".
You may obtain additional credits by watching rewarded ads via Google AdMob. Watching the ad is optional — you are not required to.
Additional credits:
- Add to your normal quota (do not replace it)
- Are verified via AdMob Server-Side Verification to prevent fraud
We do not charge for subscriptions, in-app purchases, or any other form of payment. If that changes in the future, we will update these terms with advance notice.
8. Advertising
When you choose to watch a rewarded ad:
- The ad is displayed by Google AdMob.
- Ad content is controlled by Google and its advertisers — not by JWith.
- JWith is not responsible for the content of third-party ads.
- Google may collect ad usage data per its own policies — see the Google Privacy Policy.
9. User-to-user communication
9.1 Invitations and chat
- You may only send a message to someone who has accepted your invitation. Pending, declined, or blocked invitations do not allow chat.
- You are responsible for the content of your messages.
- Messages may be reported by the recipient if they contain prohibited content.
9.2 Blocking
At any time, you may block another user. Blocking:
- Removes each user from the other's Meet feed
- Pauses the existing chat (previous messages remain visible to both; no new messages go through in either direction)
- Suspends any private profile/photo share between the two users for as long as the block lasts (unblocking restores it; what was viewed before the block cannot be undone)
- Prevents new invitations, messages, and private-share proposals in either direction
9.3 Reporting
If another user violates these terms (harassment, prohibited content, fake account, minor, etc.), report them via profile → ⋮ → Report. Reports are reviewed by our team and may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent ban of the reported user.
We do not notify the reported user about the report.
10. Expected conduct
You agree to use JWith only for purposes consistent with its intended function — meeting members of the community to develop serious relationships.
You may not:
- Use other users' data or images for purposes outside JWith (automated scraping, redistribution)
- Attempt to access areas of the service for which you are not authorized
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or exploit vulnerabilities in the service
- Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the service
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent blocks, quotas, or bans
- Impersonate another person or create a profile on someone else's behalf
- Sell, buy, or trade accounts, invitations, credits, or interactions within JWith
- Use the service for any illegal activity
Violations result in suspension or ban without prior notice.
11. Suspension and termination
11.1 By you
You may terminate your account at any time at Settings → Delete account. After confirming, your profile is hidden immediately and the account enters a 30-day retention window, then it is permanently erased.
11.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice when:
- You violate these terms
- You provide false information
- Your account shows signs of compromise or fraudulent use
- A court order requires termination
- We decide to discontinue the service (with advance notice when feasible)
We may terminate accounts that remain inactive for an extended period, after email notice.
11.3 After termination
- You lose access to the account and associated content.
- Messages already sent to other users remain visible to them.
- Your public photo and description are removed from the feed.
- Data is deleted per our Privacy Policy (section 6).
12. Service availability
We make reasonable effort to keep JWith operational 24/7, but we do not guarantee continuous availability. We may:
- Perform scheduled maintenance (whenever possible, in low-traffic windows)
- Temporarily interrupt the service in case of technical failure
- Modify features, add new ones, or discontinue old ones
- Deliver updates to the app's software over the air, which the app may download and apply on launch to keep the service secure and functional
- Limit features or capacity for specific users for technical or moderation reasons
There is no contractual SLA on availability.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- JWith is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that using it will result in finding a partner, that other users will be compatible with you, or that the information they provide is truthful.
- We are not responsible for the content, actions, or omissions of other users — including false profile information, behavior during or after interactions inside/outside the app, or moral/material damages arising from such contacts.
- We are not responsible for ad content displayed by AdMob.
- We are not responsible for data you voluntarily share with other users outside JWith (on other platforms, in in-person meetings, etc.).
- In the event of service failure, data or content loss, or temporary unavailability, our total liability is limited to the amount you have actually paid JWith in the 12 months preceding the event — currently $0, given the service is free.
These limitations do not apply to cases where applicable consumer-protection law provides for non-waivable liability — your statutory rights remain unaffected.
14. In-person meetings — caution
JWith connects people online. You are responsible for your own safety in in-person meetings. JWith does not verify other users' character, intentions, or criminal background — the "verified" badge only confirms facial correspondence, nothing more.
Practical guidance on choosing where, how, and with whom to meet — including how to recognize common scam patterns and what to do if something feels off — is in our Safety Tips.
15. Intellectual property
- The name "JWith", the logo, and other brand visual elements are our property.
- The app source code is our property or licensed from third parties (open-source libraries with their own licenses).
- AI-generated content (public photos, bio suggestions, location names) is provided to you free of charge for use in the JWith context. You have no copyright over the AI output — you may use it within the app, but not for external commercial purposes.
- Copyright complaints — to report content that infringes your copyright, email support@jwith.app. We remove infringing material and may terminate repeat infringers.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When there is a material change:
- We give you advance notice
- Via in-app notification + email (if you provided one)
- The updated version replaces the previous one on the effective date indicated
If you disagree with the new version, you may terminate your account before the effective date. Continuing to use the service after the date implies acceptance.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States.
- Disputes arising from these terms will be resolved by the competent courts of Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States, except where applicable consumer-protection law grants the consumer the right to file suit in their own domicile.
- Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under your local law.
18. Contact
We respond to legal and data-protection requests within the timeframe required by applicable law. For general support, we respond as soon as we are able.
