What JWith is for
JWith exists to help Jehovah's Witnesses find each other for sincere, faith-aligned relationships. Everything we do as a platform — and everything we ask of you as a member — flows from that purpose.
JWith is an independent app. It is not an official Jehovah's Witnesses application, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, or any official Jehovah's Witnesses organization.
These Community Guidelines complement our Terms of Use by describing the kind of behavior we expect in plain language. The Terms tell you what is legally required. These Guidelines tell you what good citizenship in the JWith community looks like.
By using JWith, you agree to engage with the community in the spirit described below. Violations may lead to warnings, suspension, or permanent removal — described in detail in our Terms.
The five principles
1. Be sincere about who you are
- Use a recent photo that genuinely shows you. The same person, same face, no manipulation that hides your appearance.
- Be honest about your age, marital status, and where you live.
- Describe yourself in your own words. Use AI assistance if helpful, but make sure the result reflects you.
- If you choose to disclose your status within the congregation (pioneer, congregational role), be accurate. Misrepresentation in this area harms trust within the community more than in any other.
2. Be respectful in every interaction
- Communicate with others the way you would want to be communicated with — including how you would speak with a brother or sister at the Kingdom Hall.
- Disagreement is fine. Hostility, name-calling, mockery, and condescension are not.
- Respect "no" the first time. If someone declines your invitation or stops responding, take that as their answer.
- Different congregations, traditions, and personal circumstances exist within the broader Witness community. Approach those differences with curiosity, not judgment.
3. Be safe, and help others be safe
- Don't pressure anyone to move the conversation off JWith, share personal contact, or meet in person before they are ready.
- Don't ask for money, gifts, payment cards, or financial favors — and don't send these things to anyone you've met on JWith. Both are red flags for scams.
- Don't share another person's personal information (real name, location, congregation, photos, etc.) without their explicit consent.
- If something feels wrong, use the report tool (kebab menu ⋮ on any profile). You're not "telling on" anyone — you're keeping the community safe. Reports are confidential.
4. Keep conversations focused on connection
- The platform exists for getting to know someone with intent toward a serious relationship. Use it that way.
- No casual-relationship language ("hookups", "no strings", "FWB"). Such conversations don't belong here and will be removed.
- No promoting businesses, recruiting for MLMs, soliciting donations, selling products, or advertising services. JWith is not a marketplace.
- No promoting interpretations or activities that aren't aligned with Jehovah's Witnesses teachings — including birthdays, holidays the congregation does not observe, partisan political positions, or doctrinal disputes.
5. Keep content appropriate
- Photos should clearly show you, dressed in a manner consistent with the standards of the congregation.
- Avoid sexually suggestive content, profanity, or violence — in photos, descriptions, messages, or any other content you upload.
- No content involving minors. See our Child Safety Standards for the full policy.
- No copyrighted material (song lyrics, scripture artwork from publishers, images you don't have rights to).
Specifically not allowed
The complete, legally-binding list of prohibited content and behaviors is in our Terms of Use, section 5.3. A few items from that list result in immediate action — no warning, no second chance:
- Content involving or suggesting minors (see Child Safety Standards)
- Sexual content
- Asking for or sending money to other users
- Sharing another user's personal information
- Impersonating someone else
For everything else on the prohibited list, the consequence ladder in the next section applies.
What happens when guidelines are violated
We use a combination of automated systems and human review:
- Automated systems flag descriptions and photos with prohibited content before they become visible. Rejections include a standardized reason so you can adjust and resubmit.
- User reports are reviewed by our moderation team. We don't tell the reported user who reported them.
- Manual review confirms or overrides automated decisions when contested.
Consequences scale with the violation:
- First, minor violation: usually a warning + content removal. Account stays.
- Repeated minor violations or single severe violation: account suspension (24h to 30 days depending on severity).
- Severe violation (e.g. child safety, harassment, fraud, scam attempt): permanent ban + escalation to law enforcement when applicable.
If you believe an action against your account was a mistake, you can appeal by writing to support@jwith.app with the case details. We respond within a reasonable time.
You can shape your experience
JWith gives you tools to control who reaches you — Block, Report, Decline. Use them liberally. Blocking someone is not rude; it is a normal part of online dating.
The exact mechanics (what each action does to existing chats, shared profiles, future invitations) are described in our Terms of Use, sections 9.2 and 9.3.
A note on safety
These guidelines are about behavior on the platform. Your physical safety, both online and offline, also depends on choices you make outside our control. See our Safety Tips for practical advice on staying safe.
